I knew Sudden Change worked from way back when I was a teen. At the time it only worked until you smiled and then your face would crack up. But the formula has been changed so that it will last for an evening. I even wear it to sleep with the Night Eye Repair. THIS REALLY WORKS IN FRONT OF YOUR VERY EYES IN 1-2 minutes. It’s like nothing you’ve ever used. And the cost is good value. It eliminates under eye bags and takes YEARS off of your face.
I would be a little concerned if I wore it to bed and woke up with it all cracked – a man would think he went to sleep with a 10 and woke up with a 2!! LOL
Like the new green packages – they have been around for about 30 years.
Kudos to them for the product and their shipments were right on time.

Sudden Change Under Eye Firming Serum not what I expected

I ordered this product after seeing it on TV. They were reviewing face products you could use instead of having costly procedures done. A Dermatologist was there when they were doing the testing and said he saw some difference when this product was used for puffiness and dark circles under the eye. They did say on TV that you would need to mix a couple of drops in your foundation when putting it on because it was pretty drying. I thought for the price that I would give it a try. It was really drying and you could definitely not wear it alone without seeing significant drying on the skin. I seemed to be wasting a lot of makeup to use just under the eye area without seeing much difference in appearance. I had to stop using because it was too drying. I’ve used other products that I like much better that you don’t have to mix with foundation, so I’ll be sticking to those from now on.

Excellent as a blush brush

Works very well as a blush brush:

1. Very soft on the face
2. Very full and dense bulk of hair:
It picks up a great amount of powder at each dab.
3. Powder is well distributed in the brush.
4. Very easy to use:
I brush the powder in circles on my cheek area with this brush and the powder blends and settles on the skin very well.
5. The hair doesn’t seem to fall off yet during application.
6. And most importantly, it is excellent as a blush brush!

Additional information:
This brush is about 6″ long, and the handle is sturdy and medium-weight.

If there is any issues with the brush, I will keep an update on here. So far so good.

Perfect for the hair-do challenged!

I am a complete hair-do idiot. I can put my hair in a pony, a braid, or a bun. It took me a year to figure out how to do that little bump of hair on top of my head. And, while I have a LOT of hair, the strands are very fine, so my hair doesn’t hold bobby pins, barrettes, hair bands, head bands, etc. very well. They almost always fall out. I bought these today from a store in town and I put them in as soon as I got home. That was five hours ago. They have stayed in and my bun has stayed tight to my head! I’m completely amazed. These are so worth the money.

Spin Pin: Adventures in Hair Styling

I am not a woman equipt with even a quarter of the basic hair styling skills that the average small child has, but somehow this silly little spiral has managed to turn someone like me into a budding hairstylist. I have long hair, down to the middle of my back, but it is so fine that I can barely make a ponytail holder stay in without tying it so tight I pull out hairs when I take my hair down, and don’t even get me started on barrettes and bobby pins. I bought this product on a whim figuring it would fall into the long line of random hair dohickies that don’t work with my hair, or at least don’t work with me, but for once my $5 were well spent.

It took me about 5 minutes max to get a feel for it and once I had my hair up in a bun (possibly the best looking one I have ever been able to produce) it stayed put perfectly until I decided to take it out. I’m interested in trying out the other items in this line in hopes that I may have more hair styling luck. I whole heartedly recommend this item.

Works great (even for fine hair)

I have long hair that is very fine and slick. It tends to slip out of most hair clips, headbands, etc. I’m also not very good at styling my hair. I saw the commercial for this product and wanted to try it. I found them at Wal-Mart after looking for several weeks. The pins are very easy to put in and take out and they hold my hair securely in place for hours at a time. Also, they are comfortable to wear and do not pull at my hair like a pony tail would, which gives me headaches. The only down side is that I have layered hair, so I get lots of ends sticking out, which looks okay for casual wear but would not look good for a professional or formal situation. I suspect, however, that a good application of hairspray might fix the problem. I will also add that I have dark brunette hair and whenever the pins (brunette color) happen to stick out, they blend in fairly well with my hair.

My all time favorite lotion.

I’ve been using this lotion for several years and love it. I was happy to find it on Amazon. It’s very thick but not greasy. It stays on your skin a long time. It smells great! I like both the Oat and the Soy versions equally. I’ve given as gifts and they seem to love it as well. It seems a little pricey but it does last a long time. I also recommend the Milk Body Wash.

Incredible Moisture, Great Aroma

I just tried this lotion today in a little boutique, and I’m obssessed with it! It makes my skin incredibly silky without feeling greasy or thick. The skin softening affect is long-lasting. And the aroma is cozy and inviting — sort of like the smell of clean baby skin, but without smelling like baby powder. I’ve already used a good portion of the 4 oz bottle I bought today…I’m definitely going to need this larger pump bottle.

Works fine, but shatters in bigger chunks than OPI or China Glaze

Having used OPI and China Glaze, I have some basis for comparison. The LaRosa works well too, but the shatter pattern is not quite as intricate, nor as “squared” – that is, OPI and China Glaze’s patters are more geometric. OPI is like small thin rectangles, while China Glaze looks a bit like snakeskin. LaRosa has more of a random shatter pattern.

If you haven’t used a crackle or shatter polish, please read on. These are a lot of fun, and look great. It makes me crazy when I see reviews of disappointed people saying “It didn’t work” and you can usually tell they either didn’t get directions with the product, or didn’t read them.

The point of crackle polish is to use two colors which contrast. You apply a base coat of regular nail polish, and then paint the crackle polish on top, which shrinks as it dries to expose the base color. Thus, whatever you choose for your base should be a color that will contrast nicely with the color of crackle you have. The more different the colors (light and dark) the more obvious the pattern will be.

Crackle polish will NOT work on your naked nail- as it dries it shrinks and it needs a smooth dry surface to shrink across.

The key is to put the crackle polish on when the base color is COMPLETELY dry. Then it will “shatter” correctly. It takes a few seconds or more for the crackle polish to work its magic and contract, so after putting it on, relax and watch it. It’s kind of like watching an old Poloroid develop. If you find spots that are blank and you want to carefully fill them in afterwards, you can.

Three things I have found regardless of the crackle or shatter brand:

1) It is thick, so you really want to shake, stir and roll the bottle between your palms to get it well-mixed.

2) Crackle polishes all dry matte (dull and un-shiney) so unless you like that look, you will want to apply some clear top coats to get shine and to level the layers.

3) If you want small, fine crackles, go light with the crackle polish. If you want a chunkier look with larger sections of crackle, go thicker.

I already did a reveiw of this product (Only in a different color) so check out Larosa Crackle Nail Polish Hot Purple for the full reveiw. It basiccly goes for this color too, exept a few things. 1. The color whent on alot easyer for this color. 2. If the color your putting this over is not fully dry, the bruh picks it up and then kind of changes the color to that tint. It comes out eventully, but its just a pain in the butt. 3. I think the polish dried less on the wand this time. Overall, great buy

A MAKEUP ARTIST’S PERSPECTIVE-Good for me, but not for everyone

As a makeup artist I have been doing makeup for weddings and special events for almost nine years now.

A vow to my clients is that I will never put anything on their face that I have not tried myself. Therefore, when clients started asking about bare minerals and whether I would recommend it or not I felt obligated to try it out.

When I try “new” products I put them through a volley of tests.

The first test I put it through I call the “photograph” test.

Some makeups have reflective agents in them that reflect bright likes such as the flash from a camera. While they look normal and well blended in normal lighting conditions they can look comically white in photographs were a flash is used. When doing makeup for weddings it is ESSENTIAL that the makeups I use DO NOT have reflective agents.

I took a photograph of my natural skin in normal lighting, then used a flash. I put on the BM foundation, came back and took two more photographs: one in normal lighting with no flash, one with a flash. I’m pleased to announce that bare minerals DID pass the photograph test.

My second test is the oil test. I have VERY oily skin and so do many of my clients. If it won’t last all day on my skin, how can I expect it to last all day on the skin of a laughing, hugging, drinking, dancing, partying, kissing bride. I was happy to announce that it DID last a BIT longer than other foundations I have used in the past but it did not last as long as I would have liked. Touch ups during the day are essential to all-day wear (or a very good oil-control powder).

I really liked the way it looked and felt on my own skin but there are clients that I would NOT recommend it for.

I have a very strict facial regiment that I go through to keep my skin healthy, clear and fresh. If my skin were not in the healthy shape that it is in because of my regiment I don’t believe bare minerals would be for me.

A healthy regiment is a MUST for this or any makeup. If I get a client who has not taken care of her skin I will not use bare minerals. I will moisturize the face, cover the problem spots and use a different type of foundation. I MAY brush a little over the top to give them a matte finish but it will not be my principle cover up.

Bare Minerals seems to be more about enhancing beautiful skin, not concealing troubled skin.

If you would like to use this product and use it effectively you MUST do the following:
1. MOISTURIZE! Though I recommend this for ALL of my clients it is still essential for Bare Minerals. An expensive foundation, whether bare minerals, or any other brand for that matter, will not be able to give you the moisture your face needs. Find a good moisturizer. Moisturize in the morning and at night.
2. Allow your moisturizer to completely absorb into your skin before you apply Bare Minerals. Because Bare Minerals is a powder it clings to moisture wherever it finds it. If you have any lingering moisturizer on your face it will cling to it and leave you looking caked and pasty. I recommend waiting about five minutes after moisturizing before applying bare minerals.
3. WASH YOUR FACE! Though this product boasts that it is so pure you can sleep in it, that is hogwash. Anything you put on your face for an extended period of time that cannot be absorbed (such as a moisturizer) IS going to clog your pores. I don’t care how “pure” it is. Personally, I wash my makeup off with a gentle foaming cleanser and then I ex foliate with proactiv. I also use proactiv’s toner and repairing lotion when needed, and I ALWAYS moisturize. Because bare minerals is a powder and not a liquid I have found it is a little easier to wash off initially, but because it is a powder and has tiny particles that CAN clog pores, my toner is especially necessary to really get down deep and clean my pores.

Healthy skin is essential to the success of any great look, but bare minerals is NOT a cure to skin problems as it boasts to be. The cure to skin problems is treatment to the best of it’s ability. If you have acne, use an acne wash or talk to a dermatologist. If you have dry skin, moisturize. If you have oily skin, moisturize as well (as many times the body produces MORE oil when you try to dry it out). If you have a rash or any other skin problem, talk to a dermatologist and treat the condition. Makeup is NOT a cure to skin issues, it is an enhancement to the beautiful skin beneath it.

It is true that certain makeups can HELP your skin problems but do not look for makeups to cure your skin issues. If you abandon your skin regiment for a promise of healthy skin from a makeup, nine times out of ten you are going to find your skin problems coming back.

For those who have switched to Bare minerals and seen dramatic improvement in their skin, that is wonderful. It is very likely that a product in your old makeup was harming your skin or a certain product in Bare Minerals is exactly what your skin needed for a boost. Way to go!

Don’t get sucked into the belief that a makeup will cure an issue with your skin. Talk to a dermatologist. Get your skin issues taken care of before you try the makeup and then see.

Also, DO NOT get sucked into the belief that the success of one product within a brand means that everything that brand produces is going to be as good. I get many clients who say, “I ONLY use XYZ…”
There are MANY brands that excel at one or two things but the rest of their products are substandard.

If you find one thing that works FABULOUSLY for your skin or your eyes, or whatever, by all means use it, but don’t throw away the rest of your makeup and go all out for just that ONE brand, you will really miss out on the other one of two GREAT products produced by other brands.

I, myself, have over 20 brands of makeup in my kit. I’ll never be the bride of just ONE brand.

Take care of your skin and you’ll be surprised how many makeups WILL work for you.

Not So Great For Older Faces

I have tried this product and found it wanting. I agree with many of the reviewers that it feels light and silky and certainly looks like you have no makeup on at all. Unfortunately, I can look like I have no makeup on at all by simply wearing no makeup. With my older (early 50′s) skin, I find that it really did not help in covering/hiding fine lines, dark(ish) circles under my eyes, or facial discoloration and the luminous quality of the powders actually seems to highlight wrinkles and lines rather than hide them. If I have to use a concealer makeup to aid in hiding these imperfections, I feel I might as well buy another type of makeup. On younger skin, I can well imagine this makeup could be quite lovely but I don’t recommend it for the more mature set.

In an update to this review, based on some of the responses to my post, I decided (since I still had the makup!) to give it one more try and wear it for a week or so. It could be my skin type, but I still feel the “luminosity” of the makup only managed to accentuate, not hide, the fine lines around my eyes and mouth. Also, after wearing the makup daily for a little over a week, I found that it became increasingly itchy on my skin. I developed a few reddish patches on the more sensitive areas of my face (mainly around the eye area). I finally gave it away to a young person who will hopefully have better luck with it!

I’m finally willing to wear foundation!

I have never worn foundation in my life. I hated being able to feel it on there, & I hated the effort of washing it off every night & how long it took to put on. This has solved all those problems. Applying the foundation takes maybe 30 seconds. I don’t feel like I have anything on my face at all. Family was telling me how nice I looked, but when I told them I was wearing foundation they were surpised. It looked so natural. And this stuff won’t hurt your skin if you leave in on at night. So no big hassle when you’re tired & want to go to bed. The starter kit is the way to go; I was going to try just the foundation & was glad I got the starter kit. It’s a really good deal over buying the things seperately as well.

Professional results on a budget

This is the best eye shadow I have ever used. It stays on all day long without gathering in the eye lid creases or fading out. The brush provided with each jar is great for application. Each shade of this shadow is really a mix of several colors that when mixed with other shades create some very interesting looks for the eyes. All but the darkest of the shades go from one extreme to another. Whether you are going for a bold and dramatic look or subtle and subdued this eye shadow can be layered to achieve many styles. I’ve now purchased about half of the colors and will continue to collect more as I am certain I won’t be using any other brand or style of eye shadows anytime in the near future. A tip for application: First apply you mascara before shadow. I also do my eyes before the rest of my make-up so if any loose powder falls onto my face it is easier to clean up. Working with eyes can be tricky so if you need to fix something or start over you can do so without messing up the rest of your make-up by doing the eyes first. To minimize the shadow falling off the brush before or during application, tap the brush gently after gathering the powder you are applying. It takes very little of this eyeshadow to achieve full coverage making it an excellent value for the money.

I’m a fan of the HiP Pigments anyway- this Striving color is awesome! Very glam, very unique, and great like all of the HiP products! Recommend if you want to try something different.

Tenacious is a gorgeous bronze color that is super shimmery on the lids. The shimmer flakes are not as fine as some of the higher end brands but as long as you have a good make-up brush it applies just fine. When used with a good eyelid primer (I use urban decay primer potion or ELF primer potion which is cheap but works well!) this can last the entire length of my 12 hour shift, with very little to no creasing. The color does not fade either! However, without a primer this color does not stay on my lids for longer than a couple of hours, and major creases!

Love this curling iron

Gets hot fast, stays hot. Good weight and balance. I really like the variable heat control, and that it’s separate from the power button.

The power button is in an unfortunate location, however, and I’ve twice accidentally turned it off without noticing until I’m several curls in and it doesn’t seem to be curling anymore. This is a design flaw – the on/off switch is in a bad place, right near where you tend to move your thumb a lot while curling, and while it clicks “on” with an subtle sound and tactile “click,” the switch toggles “off” like a ninja, happily stealthing into the “off” position at the slightest whisper of perceived intent. I’d even read in other reviews where others would accidentally touch the off button during use, so I thought I was prepared. The design and location of the on/off switch makes the iron feel shy and a bit too introverted, so you’ll want to get in the habit of glancing at that button after every curl or two.

Otherwise, the iron makes beautiful, smooth curls that set faster and have a longer shelf-life than other irons I’ve used. And it looks great on my vanity next to my pink zebra hair blower.
I’d recommend this curling iron.

AWESOME item if u want your curl to stay!

I absolutely LOVE this curling iron. It’s not only a “hot” looking item in your home, but it does keep your curl intact if you want curl, body, or just a cute flip up for your shag cut. I have very fine hair and this is the ONLY iron I’ve ever used besides the model below it that I used of a friend’s that has kept any of my body or curls together in the awful hot, humid Illinois summer time. I’ll never go back to some junk Conair like I used to use from Walgreens. This is the best iron I’ve ever used. The pulsing heat is awesome when you think it’s going to get cool if you have a slightly damp piece of hair and won’t fry it as it dries the small section of hair I didn’t get totally dry. I give it five stars all the way around and Lock & Mane shipped IMMEDIATELY. I had my item in about four days from purchase! AWESOME ITEM!!!

HoT tools is the BEST

I’ve been using Hot Tools curling irons for years (all barrel sizes). In my opinion they are by far still the best. I have thick unruly hair and hot tools works amazingly. I will certainly purchase again.
